This post will be some outfit inspirations taken from K-Pop Hyuna's RED music video. She really looked red hot in that video. Click here for the link to the music video!

#1 Psychedelic

This psychedelic print outfit is casual yet statement-making. Definitely chic and turns heads.

#2 Prints

This is a cute outfit to incorporate prints for starters. Opposite attracts; if you have a printed bottom, keep the top simple and vice versa

#3 Sexy

This cropped outfit is super sexy as it shows off your curves and makes your legs look longer. All hail short shorts and pumps!

#4 Casual Chic

I love this outfit. It is feminine yet masculine at the same time. Feminine because of the turtle neck crop top and masculine because of the boyfriend jeans. I'd love to rock this outfit!

#5 Metallic

This metallic ensemble is statement-making as well. The golds and bronze make this outfit look grand as ever. Of course, it would be awkward to wear this out, so I'd suggest changing up the top to a neutral color to make it more wearable.

#6 Red

This red outfit is a bright ensemble, more like an outfit to rock during Chinese New Year, haha! But yes, the bracelet gives it a rock element while at the same time feminine through the red and heels.

#7 Moto-Chic

Hot. This leather ensemble is so much more appropriate for car models, but who cares? It's fantastic to show off your wild side. And those crazy over the knee boots? BAM!

#8 Fruit Frenzy

This is a more quirky outfit featuring... Bananas. Of course, you could switch it to any other fruits. This is a fun and cute outfit, though not everyone can rock it.

#9 Red Hot

Red crop, red shorts, red heels and red lips. Enough said.

#10 Python

This is another wild outfit but more subtle. Through the python print shorts, this outfit is definitely wearable. The golden arm cuff and lace up heels add an edge to this outfit.

#11 Egyptian Queen

Saving the best for the last, is this Egyptian inspired outfits. Gold from head to toe. This is most appropriate for that Egyptian themed party or maybe even Halloween!

I hope these outfits have inspired you in some ways!

Talking to Angel

An emotional letter to an angel.

Dear Angel,

I've done something really wrong, I messed up. I've hurt one of the closest friend I've had. I'm not sure whether it was Cupid to be blamed, but I'm pretty sure I was shot not just once...

The first shot.
This friend loved me with all his heart but I drifted. Something just ticked inside of me.
The desire to have persevered and just held on to him always came back to me, but it just did not feel right anymore. Being half-present when I was with him was unfair to him. I decided to end it.
I really tried to make it work, but I didn't succeed in convincing myself I could continue.

The second shot was fatal.
I was enduring with the pain, trying my best to suppress it. I convinced myself not to show the pain.
I was doing so well that I believed the pain wasn't there, I went numb.
But that day when he asked me what was wrong, I explodedThe pain I felt was doubled or even quadrupled. I knew we wouldn't work out anymore. I decided to end it.

I did not keep my promise to him, I never did.
I felt so so bad that I wished I could just disappear into thin air, not wanting to show my face or keep in contact with anyone related to him. It was guilt and my pain grew even more; crying in the shower,
the bus and to sleep. I'm sure he felt pain too, and I knew I've hurt him enough.
This can never be salvaged.

So dear angel, please help me protect him and guide him to wherever he wishes to be and become. Make him an even better person in however ways. Guide him to his next and last ONE and bless him with happiness.

Thank you,

Not the best

I've always got this constant fear of not being the best. I've always wanted to be the best in everything. Though I feel that I can do it but it's obviously impossible.

When I was still in touch with academics (that was last year), I've always wanted to be the best in at least ONE subject... Possibly biology, Chinese or music. However, this never really happened. Progressively, though I improved, I was again still not the best. And so, I felt inferior to my peers and always vexed about how they did it.

As time passed, I thought that I should have been happy I've done my personal best each time I improved. There's no need to have felt inferior.

Violin / Music

I've been studying the violin all my life, at least, since I was a 4-year old kid. As my passion for it only grew much later (sorry mum and dad), the desire to be the best became more apparent. Again, I looked to my peers who were doing so much better than me, and felt like I could never be like that.

As I gained more experience in performing and watching performances, I realised that there was no such thing as "best" in the music scene. Everyone has their personal tastes in music, so not everyone will be pleased. I'd still do great with more hard work and build a personal voice.

I want to be the best lover one could have. If they have an ex, I'd want to love better than their ex did.

But I've learned that everyone loves differently, each person comes from different backgrounds with different personality. There's no such thing as the "best lover" since there's no yardstick to judge. I've learnt to just give love and (hopefully) receive the same. I've also learnt to forgo the past and his past, and really to start anew.

This is actually a very large topic for me, I could go on forever. But in short, when I was young, I had no problem with how I looked. But progressively being in touch with magazines and *ehem* puberty, I lost my confidence and felt inferior to the others. I want to have the best looks, to have people going "wow!" when they see me. But that obviously never happened.

Therefore, I've learnt to accept my looks and flaws. Everyone is unique in their own ways, that's what makes each of us special. And also, there's never a "best looking" person in the world. Everyone has their own tastes in aesthetics. And so, there's really no need to fuss about this.

You know that girl whose name everyone knows in school? Ya, I was never THAT girl. That one girl who everyone talks to and is never alone but with great company. The "Miss Popularity". I craved so much to experience that in my life but it never really happened.

I've learnt that popularity really isn't that big of a deal. I've come to appreciate having a few close friends whom I can talk to anytime and know that they are true to me and not just getting benefits off of my "reputation". No backstabbers, just simply great friends you can laugh with (and laugh at).

To close off, know that the best of anything are not the same person. I'm not superhuman. There's always going to be someone better than me. I accept it and embrace it.

Shake it off

I'm sure you have watched Taylor Swift newest hit single "Shake it Off" from her newest album "1989". I have been obsessed with the music video and of course her outfit changes. I've curated the following outfits inspired by the music video!

#1 Hip Hop

I like the sportiness of this outfit with the varsity jacket and the cap. The marble-patterned crop top further adds a punch and edge to this outfit.

#2 Ballet

What I like about this outfit is that it's effortless and definitely lounge-wear appropriate. You can just throw this outfit on while you take a slack at home. Or do some yoga or warm up exercises in this.

#3 Taylor

This is Taylor. Red lip stick, black turtle neck and metallic shoes. This contrasts with the other outfits as it is more understated but still classy.

#4 Ballerina

This outfit is especially ballerina-inspired. Together with the crown, this outfit is also princess-like, which I adore. Instead of a TuTu, a more understated tulle midi skirt can be substituted for a more wearable look. The nude heels also creates the illusion of a ballet shoe.

#5 Twerk

This is a sexy punk-rock outfit. It features leopard print, gold accessories and short shorts to show off that twerk you've been working on. This is definitely loud and statement-making.

#6 Cheerleader

I especially loved her cheerleader outfit. It was fresh and she definitely looked great. She could really pull off as a cheerleader! The gist in this is to have colour blocking in your outfit and a crop top to show off that abs you've been working on.

#7 Metallic

Feeling adventurous and bold? Why not don on an all-metallic look. Be a show stopper when you walk into the malls or even on streets. This was definitely a comedic outfit change with the oversized glasses and short blonde wig.

If you'd like to rock these outfits, hashtag #museestate or @muse_estate on instgram! I'd love to take a look at your take on these!

Why do people change? How do people change? When do people change? I'm sure you've had these questions at least once before. You're frustrated and appalled by the changes but it just happened. How would you cope with it? I will attempt to breakdown these questions in these post.

The 'why'

1. They've had enough

They have been stigmatised everywhere, they have had their hearts broken too many times, they have been told they're not good enough, they have experienced too much unhappiness and disappointment. They feel that nothing is right and want to escape from it. They turn to change, sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse.

2. Conforming to 'survival of the fittest'

These are the ones who got bullied in school, on the streets and even at work. Though some people may be able to appreciate them, but they feel that they need to step it up and be accepted by everyone else. They want to survive in this world, and so they turn to change. Flashback to when I was in primary school, where my friends turned to the "cooler" cliques in school and left me. Cruel, but they felt the need to conform.

3. They've found themselves

These are the ones who are lucky enough to have found themselves. It could be something they just got to know of or something gradually surfacing inside of them. They are comfortable in this newly found persona and don't care about what people think of them anymore. They're the ones who are finally happy and free.

The 'how'

1. Personality

You witnessed the drastic change of personality, perhaps from a formerly happy and bubbly personality to a sad and always preoccupied personality. Have they met someone new who could have inflicted such changes upon them? Were they just trying to help but unnoticingly caught this from this new friend? Conversely, they could have changed from a negative to a positive persona, again, depending on this 'new friend'.

2. Aesthetics

These are the ones who were told they're ugly, be it just once or too many times. They're also the ones who think they're not good enough in their looks. Perhaps they think their features aren't refined or ideal enough like the models on the magazines, or it could also be how they dress. Flashback 4 years ago when I was told I was not fashionable enough. It triggered something in me having heard that, and I wanted to change how I clothed myself.

3. Attitude

This depends on the circumstances of that person. When their lifestyle gets progressively busier, they tend to cultivate this cranky, easily irritable attitude. They are the people who complain about everything about the food they had in the 5-star restaurant. Alternatively, they could be the people who are generally not contented with their lives, and so cultivated this 'attitude'. This change of attitude may not necessarily be for the worse. They could have met someone who changed their attitude to the better, perhaps in life or in behaviour.

The 'when'

1. Teenage

This is especially true for teenage girls. Somehow, girls are perceived as being more inclined to change. This could be due to our natural strive for perfection. We then find ourselves constantly wanting to conform and conform towards our peers, society and the rest of the world.

2. Mid-life

We call this the 'mid-life crisis'. This could be a change in belief, change in attitude or change in lifestyle. Belief, especially, is rather popular. They feel that they have to believe in something firmly and stick to it for the rest of their living time, be it a religion or a value, and eventually find the meaning of life through this belief.

3. Elderly

A change in lifestyle is especially popular among the elderly. They realize they could not walk as fast anymore, do regular activities as easily anymore, or communicate as well anymore. They choose to slow down in their pace and really relax and watch the world go by. They take casual slow walks in the park, grocery shop in the wet market and socialize more with their age group.

How to cope with it

You've realized your friend or a close family member has somewhat changed, perhaps drastically or gradually, but you're not liking this change. Just take a step back and look at the situation in another perspective. They could have become someone better but you're just not used to it. In this case, give yourself some time, if you know he/she is becoming a better person in whole, accept it and support. Remember, those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

If you think they've changed for the worse, or at least in your point of view, find out if they're really happy about the way their lives are right now. If they are, that's all of your 'responsibilities' now. If they're not, offer to give them help. Some of them may not know or may not admit that they're not happy. In this case, make them notice themselves, which is the only way they will learn as time passes.

I hope the above points have helped you in some way or another. Comment down below about your experience with change!

Weekly Obsessions (17 Aug - 23 Aug)

/ Music: Shake it Off by Taylor Swift

[Verse 1]

I stay up too late, got nothing in my brain
That’s what people say, that’s what people say
I go on too many dates, but I can’t make them stay
At least that’s what people say, that’s what people say

But I keep cruising, can’t stop, won’t stop moving
It’s like I got this music in my body and it’s gonna be alright

Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, Ishake it off
Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break, break, break
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake
Baby, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off

[Verse 2]

I’ll never miss a beat, I’m lightning on my feet
And that’s what they don’t see, that’s what they don’t see
I’m dancing on my own, I’ll make the moves up as I go
And that’s what they don’t know, that’s what they don’t know

[Pre-Chorus] + [Chorus]

[Refrain] (x4)

I, I shake it off, I shake it off
I, I shake it off, I shake it off

Hey, hey, hey, just think while you’ve been getting
down and out about the liars and dirty, dirty cheats in the world
you could have been getting down to this beat

My ex-man bought his new girlfriend
She’s like “oh my God”, but I’m just gonna shake it
And to the fella over there with the hella good hair
Won’t you come on over, baby, we can shake, shake, shake

[Refrain] (x4)

/ Pin

I love everything about this pin; from the hair, the outfit, the pose, the prop and the setting. This lovely outfit features a black crop top, a distressed light wash denim and a heeled boots. It definitely has got this bad-ass vibe going on. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

/ Food: Bolognese Spaghetti from Asian House at Fortune Centre

This Bolognese is awesome for its price ($6.80). I literally spammed the parmesan cheese on this one. Its spaghetti is cooked al dente with the perfect amount of sauce and meat. All for a small price.

/ Random: My latte art

I made this swan latte art through free pour and am REALLY proud of it. All those months of serving customers and practicing really paid off! If you're interested in more latte art, head on over to my Instagram for more!

attractive guys (part ||)

This is a continuation for my previous post "attractive guys (part |)"

6. A friend

Be there when she needs help. You can be the hero to save the damsel in distress! Be ready to listen to her and, if possible, offer her some advice. Though you might risk being friend-zoned, a relationship always has a starting point, which is being friends. Sometimes, a girl just needs a listening ear, and knowing that you are willing to hear her out will definitely attract her to you.

7. Observant

make the effort to notice the small things she mentioned to you and remember them. Guys tend to forget or not pay attention to these, but these are really all that matters. Did she tell you about that close friend of hers who was in trouble? Even if it was just a casual sidetrack of a conversation, keep up with her and ask how her friend is now. She'll be so impressed that you remembered! Noticed what her favourite food is? Surprise them with it! Food + attentive guy + surprise = swoon

8. Initiative

Be manly enough to ask her out or do something as a group (but you know this is just an excuse). Initiate conversations; this could be via text messaging. Maybe use the usual excuse "what homework do we have?"

9. You can cook

One word: HOT

I don't mean just cup noodles, but full-on pot-and-pan cooking. Be it your favourite pasta, asian dish, soup and so on, make sure that girl KNOWS about it. Even if you can bake, flaunt it! You can even surprise her with cakes or sweets. Definitely. Attractive.

10. Dream pursuer and a hard worker

Every girl wants to know that you're one who is dependable. Many girls look for security in life, a guy who knows their goals and dreams in life. With a goal comes hard work. With hard work comes a stable career and an income. It's going back to the same thing: SECURITY.

These are the ten points to being attractive to girls (or at least to me). Hope it helped!

top 10 apps

I believe everyone owns a smartphone now, be it android or apple. I personally own an iPhone 5, and know how important apps are. I mean, what is a smartphone without apps? Apps help us better our lifestyle as they give us convenience. They also provide us entertainment when we're bored on public transport. Other than the usual popular apps like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, here are the top 10 apps I have installed on my iPhone.

1. I-S Now (iTunes only)

This app is made for Singaporeans who don't want to miss out on the fun. It shows you the happenings in Singapore like a concert, movie, DJ gigs, sports and many more. There's definitely a category made for you. Other than that, it also shows you the new caf├ęs, restaurants and retail areas to go to. Now, who said Singapore is boring?

2. Shazam/Soundhound

Basically, any music identifying app will do. You hear a song, you love it and are already imagining listening to it on repeat, but you have no idea what song that is... What horror! Well, these music identifying apps will do the job! You basically just tap for the app to listen to a short snippet of the song and they will suggest song titles.

3. Pinterest

If you know me, you'll know that I'm crazy over Pinterest. It's basically an app that gives you inspirations in whatever; weddings, parties, styling, art. This app isn't one that you'll fall in love at first sight. You need to grow the boards you're following. For me, they're mostly about fashion, beauty and celebrities! What do you do? Just scroll and scroll and pin! You'll slowly find the joy in it, trust me! You can follow me @thaviolingal, just click on the Pinterest page tab above!

4. Spotify music

Thank god for free music (most of the part)! Spotify music provides you with non-stop on-the-go listening pleasure for your long road trips. What I love about this app is that there is a "Browse" tab where you can discover new popular songs. There are curated playlists;  different moods, party, pop, workout, study, rock, chill, club, dinner, country, travel, jazz and many more. There's surely one playlist that suits your style! There is also the "Discover" tab where they suggest songs according to what you listen to the most. What's best is that it's free! However, if you want to get the whole experience, where there are NO ADS and that you can choose exactly which song to play instead of having the whole playlist on shuffle, subscribe Spotify Premium for $9.90 per month!

5. iris

Singaporeans would love this app. Iris is an app where it shows you the estimated arrival time of your bus at whichever bus stop (as long as you know the bus stop number). This helps me because I would know when to RUN and when NOT to run for the bus I'm catching. It also mentally prepares me to wait for the bus and not get anxious after 5 minutes of waiting in agony. Sometimes, if the bus is taking too long a time to arrive, I think of alternative routes, so that I will not be late for any of my appointments.

6. Evernote

This app is especially useful for students. It's essentially a note-taking app. The special feature I like about this app is the recording function. So you can record your lesson and type down notes at the same time! Here's to not missing out on anything during classes. What's more? You can download the app on your laptop, desktop, phone and it syncs throughout all your devices!

7. Dropbox

Here's another tool great for both working class and students. You literally have all of your important documents on the palm of your hands! It syncs throughout all of your devices as long as you are connected to the Internet. Forgot a presentation document to bring to school on your desktop? Ask any of your family members to put it in Dropbox and you're set to go!

8. Allwomenstalk

Girls, if you don't have this app, you're really missing out on so much! They have categories like fashion, street style, beauty, food, health and fitness and many more. It is also an inspiration or reference app that is rather helpful!

9. POSB mBanking

Essentially, any mBanking will suffice. You can engage in funds transfer right from your phone! How convenient can this get? Also, you can check how much funds you have in your account, so that you can remind yourself when to and not to spend. It really beats being surprised the next time you want to withdraw money from the ATM. Been there, done that.

10. ASOS Mag

This is for all you fashion lovers or even ASOS fans. This magazine app updates every month to provide new content. What's best? It's free! This mag offers interviews, outfit inspirations and what's currently trending. Spot something you really love? You can buy straight from your phone! I mean, how cool is that?

What are your top 10 apps? Comment down below.
